A Family Legacy
The story of Jimmy's Flowers began in 1948 when Jimmy and Aiko Kusuda settled down in Ogden, Utah, after the end of World War II. Jimmy, a WWII veteran, began his career in the floral industry while working at a flower company in California before entering the war. While being stationed in Oklahoma, he met and fell in love with Aiko while she was attending business school.
Meanwhile, Jimmy's family had been relocated to a Japanese-American internment camp in the Utah desert. Naturally, Jimmy found himself traveling to visit them quite often, passing through Ogden on his way and making friends in the process. Since Aiko was from Idaho, which was not too far from Ogden, it became a place he could envision as a home for his family - and the perfect location for a flower shop.
A few years later, with a $500 loan from the bank and three employees, Jimmy opened the doors to Jimmy's Flowers.
What began as a small shop has evolved into a 75-employee operation with three retail locations, a design center (established in 2000), and a wholesale center, which opened its doors in Syracuse, Utah, in 2021.
After moving buildings twice for more space, Jimmy's Flowers constructed its very own building in 1993. Four years later, in 1997, a second location was established in Layton, Utah. In 2019, a third retail location was opened in Bountiful, Utah. With each new location, the Jimmy's Flowers team grew exponentially.
Along with establishing a successful floral business, Jimmy and Aiko built a family. Mike Kusuda, Jimmy's son, and his wife, Debbie, are currently at the helm of Jimmy's Flowers with their two sons, Brian and Nate, at their side.
Jimmy's Flowers is built on family values, exceptional service, and high-quality products. The team serves both Weber and Davis Counties and loves connecting with residents and businesses, whether they've recently moved to town or have been here their whole lives.
